Exciting Expansion: Disney Cruise Line Unveils Plans for New Ships
Disney Cruise Line has revealed exciting new details about its fleet expansion, including a brand-new class of ships and the addition of a fourth vessel to the Wish class. These highly anticipated ships, set to debut between 2027 and 2031, will be constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, with designs crafted by Walt Disney Imagineering.
Introducing a New Class of Disney Cruise Line Ships
Disney Cruise Line is launching a groundbreaking new ship class featuring cutting-edge technology, innovative design, and an enhanced global reach. Each of the three vessels in this class will accommodate 3,000 guests and measure approximately 100,000 gross tons—20% larger than the Magic class, yet smaller than the Dream and Wish classes. This size allows for increased accessibility to more ports worldwide, bringing Disney’s world-class entertainment, dining, and signature storytelling to even more destinations.
Scheduled for delivery in 2029, 2030, and 2031, these ships will be among the most fuel-efficient in their class. Their streamlined hull, next-generation power and propulsion systems, and energy-efficient onboard technologies will significantly reduce fuel consumption. Additionally, they will feature an onboard battery system to support the main engines, as well as shore power capabilities to operate on port energy grids when docked. These vessels will also have the flexibility to run on alternative fuels, including hydrotreated vegetable oil and renewable methanol, aligning with Disney’s commitment to sustainability and The Walt Disney Company’s 2030 environmental goals.
A Fourth Ship Joins the Wish Class
Alongside the new ship class, Disney Cruise Line is expanding its Wish class with a fourth sister ship to the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny. Set to debut in 2027, this vessel will be approximately 144,000 gross tons, accommodate 4,000 guests, and be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
While the names, onboard experiences, itineraries, and designs for these new ships are still in development, exciting updates are on the horizon. Stay tuned for more details as Disney Cruise Line continues to bring more magic to the seas!
